Shaken Baby Syndrome

Shaken Baby Syndrome

Project History : In March 2005, a cadre of Ohio trainers experienced in delivering Shaken Baby Syndrome Training was convened by the Ohio Children's Trust Fund. The result was a proactive curriculum focusing on the normalcy of crying and the importance of having a plan to handle the stress which adults experience when a baby doesn’t stop crying. The Ohio Children’s Trust Fund is dedicated to delivering this message across all regions of the state, across targeted audiences and across a variety of “messengers” (trainers). Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center participated in the development of the curriculum and was selected to be the trainer for Northwest Ohio.

Length of Training: This training was designed to be 1.5 hours in length; however, content can be modified to accommodate sessions as short as 45 minutes or as long as 2 hours.

Target Audiences: This curriculum is targeted to train individuals working with expectant, new and experienced parents, those who provide care for infants and toddlers, and the general public.
